Since their forming in 1999, Theme have released six albums and performed live sporadically in a variety of incarnations, even including Faust's Jean-herve Peron on bass at a number of shows many years ago.
'Meditations on Space, Volume One' is the seventh album and represents the first volume in a two-part set. Consisting of one piece of music (spanning around 40 minutes in total) that's broken into seven parts, it sees the core duo of Stuart Carter and Richard Johnson (both also in Splintered) working with contributions from Zsolt Sores, Hiroshimabend, Emma Lynch and Michal Wojciechowski to create a blanket of shifting sonic textures and pulses that are at once dynamic and unpredictable, Utilising electronics, field recordings, viola, voices, guitar and a variety of other sound sources, the sound here is rich in scope as it vacillates between the dramatic and more subdued.
Limited to 300, the CD will be out in late May 2025 on Fourth Dimension Records.
